世界に誇る建築家、丹下健三が設計したお祭り広場の大屋根を突き破ってこれを作ったのは本当にすごいエネルギーだよ。そして丹下の屋根は解体され今残ってるのは太陽の塔だっていうのも納得のいく話だね。

1970年に開催された日本万国博覧会（大阪万博、千里万博）のシンボルタワー。現在も大阪のランドマークの一つとして有名で、森見登美彦氏の小説の舞台にもなりました。万博開催中には内部が公開されていましたが、現在は原則閉鎖されており、公開再開を待ち望む声が強いです。
