พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ พระนคร เป็นพิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติแห่งแรกของประเทศไทย เดิมเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ส่วนพระองค์ใน ร.4 ต่อมา ร.5 โปรดเกล้าฯให้ใช้ศาลาสหทัยสมาคม (หอคองคอเดีย) ในพระบรมมหาราชวังเป็นพิพิธภัณฑสถาน
